In 2006, we began a pastured livestock operation on Broadwater Farm to meet the strong demand for high quality locally produced meat and dairy products at two successful enterprises we started: Charlestown Farm (www.charlestownfarm.com) , a non-certified organic vegetable CSA located across the street from Broadwater Farm and the Phoenixville Farmers’ Market (www.phoenixville farmersmarket.org), a growers’/producers’ market located less than two miles from the Farm in the town of Phoenixville.

In the first year, we installed new fences, purchased a small herd of red angus cattle , and began to improve our pasture. We expect to begin selling healthful grass based lamb and beef in 2007. The meat will be available first to members of the Charlestown Farm CSA and when production increases at the Phoenixville Farmers’ Market. When we have improved our pastures sufficiently, we will begin a small grass based organic dairy.
